The Spring Merrick Debate was held Saturday, April 19th and was a great success. The Debate was held in gorgeous Rigg’s library, starting with a reception outside the library, followed by a fantastic debate, and concluded by a banquet aboard a boat on the Potomac. The topic for the debate was Resolved: Knowledge ought to be pursued for its own sake. The keynoters of the debate were Ms. Amelia Pelley, Mr. James Unger, Mr. Daniel Rendleman, and Mr. Andrew Rugg. Mr. Rugg won the Merrick Medal after the opening keynotes, the floor debate, and the closing keynoted were concluded. The award was judged by a panel of 4 prestigious judges from the DC area and the Georgetown community. The Father Ryder award, for the best floor speech, went to Ms. Sarah Olsen.
